Mini-Review
Jackson lives on the Mish—the Mission—surrounded by friends and family and in touch with his Indigenous culture via the men’s group. Everything’s good… except for a few local racists and the feeling that he’s not really that attracted to his girlfriend, Tesha. Then cute but troubled Tomas comes to stay and things start changing.
A mildly enjoyable YA coming of age novel. Loses momentum a bit in the second quarter but then picks up pace again.
Content warning: some mild sex, lots of alcohol, some violence, racist epithets.
