Laurinda by Alice Pung

Mini-Review

Lucy Lam wins a scholarship to a prestigious girls’ school, Laurinda, where she battles to remain true to herself despite the subtle and insidious nastiness of the most popular and powerful clique in school, known as the Cabinet.

A brilliant, beautifully written book that skewers upper middle class snobbery and unconscious racism, with intertextual links to Gatsby and Emma. Longlisted for the 2015 Stella Award, won a 2016 Ethel Turner award and 2016 NSW Premier’s Lit award. Highly recommend!
