Mini-Review
A novel about people who are pulled towards each other by their love for each other and for Florence. It starts in WW2 and ends in the 70s. Very much a ‘found family’ kind of novel that reminds me of Cloudstreet by Tim Winton and is in conversation with A Room with a View by E.M. Forster. At times I found my attention drifting, but in the end I found it a very charming and generally light hearted and life affirming read. Recommend.
Fyi: death, lots of alcohol & cigarettes, heartbreak, abandonment, war, non-graphic sex, occasional swearing.
