The English Understand Wool by Helen de Witt

Mini-Review

This is a hilarious satirical novella – only about 70 pages – about the inimitable Marguerite, who has been raised by her ultra-wealthy Maman to exacting standards of elegance, culture, intelligence and graciousness. Circumstances lead her to sell her memoir. Whose values will win: Marguerite’s or the publishing industry’s? A must read – won’t take you long.
