Mini-Review
The classic coming of age novel, showing Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy as they learn to battle their personal shortcomings and become better people, with plenty of hijinks along the way. I went on an Alcott jag and as well as Little Women and Good Wives (essentially the second part of Little Women were all the marriages occur), I read Little Men and Jo’s Boys, which are about adventures at the progressive boys’ school (Plumfield) that Jo and her husband run.
If you’re the sort of person who quite enjoyed Anne of Green Gables, you’ll probably enjoy these too. (Although don’t expect any romance.) I also loved that Alcott financed her whole family on the back of these bestselling books. Girl power!
