Borderland by Graham Akhurst

Mini-Review

Brisbane-dwelling Indigenous teenager Jono goes west to present a mining company
documentary, but starts experiencing strange visions of a terrifying chalk-white, dog-
faced man.

Kokomini writer Akhurst’s Gothic thriller is inspired by Dreamtime spirituality. The pacing is a bit off, beginning very slowly, with the action only really taking off two-thirds of the way through. But when it takes off, it really zings along.
