Mini-Review
Twenty years ago, the four uber-wealthy Story siblings were disinherited by their mother, Mildred Story. You know what you did, she wrote, and then cut off all contact.
Now, out of the blue, Mildred’s grandchildren – well meaning Aubrey, beautiful Millie and defensive Jonah – have all received letters from her, inviting them to stay at the island where she lives and to work summer jobs at the resort she owns. Their parents all insist that they go, hoping to repair the relationship… and their inheritances.
But it’s not that simple. What did the Story siblings do to get cut off? The island has many secrets, past and present. And the cousins have a few secrets of their own.
This is a fun, fast-paced, gripping read, with tons of secrets, reveals and twists, as well as a touch of romance and glamour. Chapters are narrated in first person by different cousins, with occasional third person limited chapters that show fateful events from the past, focalised through the perspective of Millie’s mother, Allison Story.
Years 7 to 12 will gobble this up. Recommended!
